Contact fields are the named fields that hold all the contact specific information you have about the people and companies you wish to contact. So having the right contact fields can be the difference between smoothly finding the right information, and having to scramble around to find a phone number for a lead.
Understanding contact fields
There are in essence 3 different types of fields in Adversus.
The hardcoded Lead specific fields, such as the Status field, booking date, last contacted by, and other such fields that are filled out by different actions in Adversus. Such as calling a lead, making a booking, or selecting a status on a lead.
The Campaign fields, that lets you save information to the campaigns themselves, not to the leads on them. So that if a field is moved from one campaign to another it leaves behind the campaign field from its old campaign.
The last and most versatile is Contact fields.
Contact fields are where most information on your contacts and leads are saved. When you upload a lead with Name, phone number, address, and email information. All of those informations end up in contact fields. You create contact fields for all the different types of data you want to include on your contacts and leads.
These fields and their data can then be used everywhere in the system, you can filter on their data in Warehouse to find specific leads, you can use them to trigger specific journeys, you can display their information to the agent in the dialer, you can let users insert new information into them directly in the dialer, and you can even designate them as insight fields to create useful statistics based on how leads with specific data performs.
Creating a new contact field
There are a 3 main ways to create a new contact field, we'll explain all of them in this article.
Creating a new contact field through Settings
To create new contact fields through this method you either need Admin rights, or the Settings permission.
Creating the field through this method gives you the most control over your field, what it contains and how it can be used. It is however also a bit more time consuming than the other options. So use it when you need to make sure a field does exactly what you want it to do.
Go to Settings -> Account -> Fields -> Contact fields
Click Create in the top right and select Contact field, this opens the Create field window.
Here you can give your field a name.
Give the field any relevant tags
Add it to a field group to limit who can see the field
Choose the type of field you want it to be, this determines how the field is treated by the system and what data can be put into it.
Text field, this can hold any type of text or numerical information.
Phone number, this makes the system treat the data in the field as a phone number, letting the dialer call the number in the field directly when calling a lead, so you dont have to manually type or copy the number into the dialer.
Email, this lets the system know it is an email address and lets it validate it when when it used as a lead field.
Address, by making a field the address type the system can verify the address when it is used as a lead field.
VAT number, by choosing this the system can validate its format when it used as a lead field.
Name, by setting something as a name field lets that name show up in lead overviews easier in a few instances, such as in a calendar user's booking overview.
Www., is the field for websites, when chosen you can click the field name in the dialer to open the website.
Date and time, lets you input specific date information, this lets you use a date time picker in the dialer to fill out the field and a few journey interactions function by reading the date stored in these fields.
Numeric, can only include numbers, which creates a field more quickly filtered on as the system has to look through less options.
Social security number, when selecting this you must also select what country the Social security number will be belonging to. That lets the system check that the Social security number is correctly formatted.
You can write a pattern in Match Pattern to set a pattern for what data should be there. For example if all your phone numbers need to be 8 digits long you can write an 8 digit long number, and the system will check this matches the data in the field when validate field is selected in campaign settings - Fields as explained in more details in this article.
The Active checkbox should be checked for the field to be available on campaigns and leads, so that the data can be seen. If you need to retire a field later on you can remove the check here and the field becomes unavailable in the rest of the system.
The Insight field checkbox lets you make the field available for insights. This is primarily useful if you need to use the data in the specific field for your statistics. There is a limited amount of Statistic fields by default based on the field type.
You can have 8 Text insight fields, 4 number insight fields, and 4 date insight fields. If you require more than that you will need to contact support.
Fast search makes the system better at filtering on the information in the specific field. Use this on fields you will need to search through a lot. You have 8 fast search fields.
Creating a new contact field through campaign settings
To create new contact fields through this method you either need Admin rights, or the Campaign administration permission.

The rest of the options are specific to the campaign and if you want to use the contact field as a Lead field or a Result field. You can read more information about that in these articles: Using a field as a Lead field and Using a field as result field.
