Campaign segmentation

If you are looking for general information about segment building read this article, or segment management article. This article will cover how to build contact data segments.

How to create Contact data segments

1. Go to Settings on the left hand menu and select Campaigns.

2. Click on the campaign for which you want to build segments.

3. At the top on the left, click on the field Segments.

4. From the dropdown options, choose Segment Builder.

5. You should be presented with 5 types of segments.

6. Click on the Contact Data segment type.

Contact Data Segments

Using Contact Data Segments allows you to segment leads based on the criteria set for each segment. So, let's walk through the process of building contact data segments and creating different criteria.

1. To build a first segment, click + Add match.

2. Insert the desired name for the segment in the Name field.

3. Set the desired criteria for the leads, which will be assigned to this segment.

4. From the dropdown options, select the dialer field for which the criteria should be applied.

5. Enter the criteria value in the field.

Criteria

Several criteria can be added to one segment. The ''OR'' option allows adding multiple requirement options, and then the lead matching one of the several criteria will be added to the segment.

Criteria for the lead can vary and consist of different values, using a variety of operators, as presented in the picture below.

> Greater than

> - indicates that only the leads with a value higher than the entered criteria value will be added to this segment.

For example, if you wanted to segment your leads based on their quality, you could set the criteria to quality score. In such case, the criteria would be Score > 3,5, for the high-quality leads segment.

≥ Greater than or equal to

≥- indicates that only the leads with a value higher than or equal to the entered criteria value will be added to this segment.

For example, once again, if you wanted to segment your leads based on their quality, you could set the criteria to quality score. In such case, the criteria would be Score ≥ 3,5, for the high-quality leads segment.

< Less than

<- indicates that only the leads with a value lower than the entered criteria will be added to this segment.

Using the same example of lead quality score, the criteria could be Score < 2, for the low-quality leads.

≤ Less than or equal to

≤- indicates that only the leads with a value lower or equal to the entered criteria will be added to this segment.

Using the same example of lead quality score, the criteria could be Score ≤ 2, for the low-quality leads.

= Equal to

=- indicates that only the leads with a value equal to the entered criteria will be added to this segment.

For example, if you wanted to segment your campaign based on the postal codes, you could set the criteria Postal code = 8000. Accordingly, only the leads with this postal code will be included in the segment.

≠ Not equal to

≠- indicates that only the leads with a value not equal to this criteria will be added to this segment.

For example, if you wanted to create a segment with all the leads outside the 8000 postal code, you could build criteria Postal code ≠ 8000, this way, leads with the 8000 postal code will be excluded from this segment.

[ ] In

[ ]- indicates that only the leads with the values included in this criteria will be added to this segment.

Given the same example of segmenting leads based on postal code, one could add all the city postal codes into the criteria, to cover the whole city. Then, Postal [ ] 8000, 8200, 8300 ..., results in all the leads with indicated postal codes added to this segment.

X Not in

X-indicates that all the leads without the values included in this criteria will be added to this segment.

For example, if you wanted to include all the leads, besides ones located in a certain area, you could create a segment with all the leads, then Postal code X 8000, will result in the segment with all the leads beside the ones with postal code 8000.

<-> Between

<-> - indicates that all the leads between the given interval should be included in this segment.

If we take the same example of postal codes, if you know that a certain area covers all the postal codes from 8000 to 9000, you could build the segment accordingly. Then, Postal code <-> 8000-9000 would result in a segment with all the leads in that area.

% Contains

%- is fairly self-explanatory, as it means that if the lead contains the value provided in the criteria it will be added to this segment.

For example, if you wanted to include all leads from the EU into one segment, you could build the criteria Country % Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria ... (other countries within the EU), which would result in a segment with all the leads located in the EU.

A... Starts with

A... - indicates that only the leads that start with the entered value will be included in this segment.

For example, if you wanted to segment your leads based on the phone country code, you could add criteria Phone A... +45, in such cases, only the leads with phone numbers starting with +45 will be included in this segment.

OBS! If the lead does not match any created segments it will automatically be added to "None-segment".

Priority

The same lead can match several segment criteria, therefore, segments can be prioritized. If the lead matches several segments' criteria it will be assigned to the segment with the highest priority.

The segment at the top will be the one with the highest priority, and the one at the bottom will have the lowest priority. The order of the segments can be changed by simply dragging up or down.

The order of priority is also indicated on the left side of the Build segments page.
